Shinju-kai was privileged to host a seminar with Shimamoto Katsuyuki Shihan (7th dan) from October 24th to 26th. The 3-day seminar was held primarily at the main dojo with one Saturday session at Bukit Timah CC. It consisted of seven classes including two adult and children combined classes, and one for instructors, assistant instructors, and leaders.
Participants not familiar with the Aikido of Shimamoto Sensei may have come to the seminar expecting vigorous physical training and displays of imposing power. They would have been surprised then, but not disappointed, in the actual content of the sessions. PA Marketplace | 2nd Youth Aikido Meet
HSBC, Gallery & Rotaract Hands-on Workshops | South Africa Trip |
During September and October, there were many exciting events held by Aikido Shinju-kai. We participated in the PA Marketplace at Downtown East where there was very good response from the grassroot leaders, especially our Third Age Programmes. For our young aikidokas, we held our 2nd Youth Meet on 16th October 2009, this time hosted by Republic Polytechnic. For the private companies, we conducted introductory hands-on workshops for employees of HSBC Bank, Gallery Hotel, Unilever Asia and participants of Asia Pacific Regional Rotaract Conference. Finally, we have Philip Lee Sensei sharing with us his Aikido trip to South Africa.
