The
Asian Aikido Federation seminar was held in Taipei
from the 12th - 15th of Nov 1999
The
Singapore contingent, consisting of 15 people, is shown
below with: (seated from the left) Harry Ng sensei,
the guest-of-honour, Tamura Nobuyoshi Shihan(8th dan), and
our chief instructor, Philip Lee sensei.
This is the
second AAF ever to be held, with the first one being held
in Bangkok last year.
The
seminar also marked the formal birth of the Asian Aikido
Federation, with the formation of the AAF committee. The
president of Aikido Taiwan, Paul Lee Sensei (8th dan) was
elected President of the AAF, with Harry Ng Sensei from
Singapore as the Vice President.

This
seminar was attended by representatives from eleven Asian
countries and regions, namely: Hongkong, Japan, Korea, Macau, Malaysia,
the Phillipines, Taiwan, Singapore, Thailand,
Saipan, and Vietnam.
There were 6 sessions of training, four on the first day,
and two on the second day. The classes were taken by: Tamura
Shihan, Funakoshi Shihan, Takezawa Shihan, Fukakusa Shihan,
Paul Lee Shihan and Fujita Shihan of Hombu Dojo.

The classes were then followed by a demonstration by the
representatives of the participating countries, with the
demonstration by the shihans from various countries as the
grand finale.
The third day of the seminar was a relaxing one with a city
tour of Taipei arranged by the host country for everyone,
followed by a 'Sayonara Dinner'.
