S. Sugano Shihan (8th dan), President of Aikikai Australia, visited Aikido Shinjukai on the 19th and the 20th of January 2000 to give a seminar. The seminar was held in Bishan East dojo (Bishan Community Center), and was attended by over 100 students. It included one hour of hand techniques and two hours of weapon training. Sugano Shihan also, to everyone's surprise, came down to Cheng San dojo on Wednesday evening to take the class (which was originally scheduled to be taken by his student, Bob Botterill sensei (5th dan) from Melbourne, Australia.
