GRADING MATTERS

GENERAL INFORMATION ON GRADING
-	All Gradings at Aikido Shinju-kai are conducted by an authorised grading panel led by Chief Examiner Philip Lee Sensei (6th Dan).
-	All grades are registered with Aikido Shinju-kai. All Yudanshas (black belt dan grades) are registered with Aikido World Headquarters (Aikikai Foundation, Tokyo, Japan) & International Aikido Federation (IAF).
-	The following syllabus are the latest release in May 2007. Please read the "NOTES" attached to the end of the syllabus before you submit for grading. Best of luck! Applicants must ensure you have fulfilled all pre-requisites at the time of Grading submission.

Applications must be accompanied with
1. Proof of training sessions & time period
2. Membership book (with current year membership paid)
3. Grading fees
4. Grading form (for Children Grading only, to be signed by parent)

For late submission after the dateline, there will be additional administration charge of $20.

Please refer to the main webpage for the final reporting time 1.5 week before Grading.

Children Kyu Grades (for those in Children classes, age 5-12 years old*)

9th kyu	Orange	4th kyu	Brown silver
8th kyu	Green	3rd kyu	Brown gold

* ..Children will have to transfer to an Adult class once they reach 13 years old (by year),
....and they will go for Adult Grading.
** Minimum age is 12 years old to be eligible for 2nd Kyu (Black) Grading.

Adult Kyu Grades & Junior Dan (for those in Adult classes, age 13 & above)

* ....Intermediate grades may be awarded by the Grading Panel upon their assessment.
......Adults who obtained Intermediate grades may grade again at the next available grading.
** ..Ladies may wear a blue Hakama after obtaining 6th Kyu & black Hakama after 2nd Kyu.
*** Junior Dan is open for teenagers age 15 and below only.
.....Junior dan holders can wear a blue Hakama.

Dan Grades

1st Dan (Shodan) *	With international certification from Aikido World Headquarters, Japan.
2nd Dan (Nidan)
3rd Dan (Sandan)
4th Dan (Yodan) **

* ..Minimum age is 16 years old to be eligible for 1st Dan Grading.
....Men can wear a black Hakama upon obtaining 1st Dan.
** Minimum age is 28 years old to be eligible for 4th Dan Grading.
